Not for faint of heart

Ok, I'm an old AMD man, but I just wanted you to see this. I had no idea those Pentium Pro processors were this tough!

Who knows, with a warranty program like that, I may come over to the darkside! LOL

P Pro's did fascinate me way back when. They're cheap if you can find 'em now and still stylish to gaze upon, if not worth a hoot next to modern processors. They sure were costly in the days that a P133 was as good as it got. Barring the $600 P Pro's themselves, of course.

Yet, after the protective casing was melted loose from the top of the actual CPU, which one was still operable?
AMD. Just like Timex, AMD's CPU's take a licking, and keep on ticking!

Yeah, yeah. Finding a Socket 8 mainboard for P Pro's is quite difficult nowadays. You can find the mobo's, but finding the VRM's for the S8's is a whole 'nother thing.

I saw a server that had two pros in it and WAS working with hard drives for $166 (if I remember correctly). It was at the show if someone wants it, drop me a pm and I'll pick it up for you.

Ta, mate. I'll just buy a Pentium Pro CPU if the opportunity presents itself again. And I can spare ten bucks for it.

A rig, while a nice museum piece just causes more unneeded clutter. Thanks again!
