P4 2.8GHz launched today . . .

While this is not in itself big or even surprising news, it does mean that all the slow P4s will get an official price cut. Those price cuts mean AMD dealers will have to cut high-end AMD prices, and will put pressure on AMD for an official price cut. If all goes well(sufficient volume ect . . .) 2400+ Tbred-B's should go for less than $150 when we actually see them. The current official price for P4 2.4B's is $204, so AMD will have no real choice but to sell the 2400+ very cheap. I'm not sure what is more exciting, a performance war, or a price war . . .

I personally think a Tbred-B tucked in to a SFF box with a mainboard based on nForce2(complete with overclocking features) would be a sweet setup, but I don't think we will see such systems emerge
