Hyper-Threading Performance Analyzer

1 Attachment(s)
i was over at vr-zone reading about the new P4 3.06 review and they pointed me to this Hyper-Threading Performance Analyzer . decided to run it on my 1.6 oc'ed to 2.6ghz. i was wondering how accurate this tools is.

here's what got using the test:

That all depends on what you mean by accurate! :) It's a synthetic benchmark, which generally means it doesn't reflect real life.

From what I've read about it, it's basically designed as a multi application tester, doing "common" tasks in parallel. (IE, Office suite applications). Roughly, it runs several tasks in parallel, and measures the time taken to complete the tasks.

I don't know how repeatable the results are. I don't know how realistic their environments are. In theory, it should show how well the machine copes with true multi-tasking. (SMP)

Of course, how well "hyper-threading" responds to that depends on what compiler optimizations were done, what other tasks are running and the length of the day.
