Pin Taping For More Voltage

Hey,

My sister has a Celeron 300A slot 1 and I pin taped B21 to get 100mhz and it runs at 450. But it's just not quite stable, needs more voltage. Anyone got any ideas? Can you pin tape for more voltage?

She can't raise the voltage through the bios or is it already maxxed?

I would imagine it's possible. You'd have to find the PDF file from intel's site and check (2) of the charts (voltage and pin definition, though I doubt is is called that). Once you find that you should be in business, this raises the default voltage of the chip and if she's able to raise her voltage through the softmenu, then she can go past where she currently is.

What type of cooling is she using?

ah, that was the one nice thing about slockets. you could run the voltage as high as you wanted. I dunno though, never used the slot celerons.

Yep. You certainly can increase vcore by way of taping. I think you can find a bit of info on that at Tomshardware. I used to have that info but when I got an old BH6 to run the 300a on I no longer needed it.............so it's gone(somewhere).
What mobo is this on??

Oh, and you can also bump the L2 latency just a tad and acheive more stability. If the bios doesn't offer that option, H. Oda had a prog to do this.

BTW, when you're referring to 'taping', what exactly you mean?

Actually taping the pin to stop contact in the slot. If you block the B21 pin the sel 66/100 automatically defaults to high(100 fsb)
You can block other pins to give various voltages. Kinda like the pin wire wrapping used for FCPGA procs.

OH!! I just had the opposite in mind, only know of/about wire wrapping ;)...

This should work:
For 2.2 volts cover pins A119, A121, and B119.
For 2.4 volts cover pins A120, A121, and B119.

You may gain some by reading the technical data white paper for the SECC/SEPP processor packages. There should be data there in relation to the VID identification of the particular processor.
