I saw no mention of even trying to boot an OS, but I didn't read the entire thread. I like to see records within the realm of the practical... But that's just me.

well, but it kinda shows that maybe the 4ghz p4 is possible. It may take some of the best slices, and good cooling, but why not sell them as so? I mean really, would you pay extra is the CPU was guaranteed to go to a certain speed higher that what's out there now, provided you get it cool enough? I would, if it came with a warranty.

top speed records aren't 24/7 stable anyway. I want my pc 24/7 stable.

I assure you, never will there be a computer that XP couldnt slow down. Thats one of its great claims to fame ;)
if you could put XP on the earth simulator. It would still randomly chug as it opened internet explorer. and it would BSOD. :rolling:
