3 types of p4???

So I go to atacom.com and check out their prices on 1.8 northwood p4s.. I find 2 different entrys..

The first reads:
INTEL P4 1.8A GHZ/512K(NORTHWOOD) SOCKET 478 RETAIL CPU(3 YAERS WARR.)
and is priced at 208.95

The second which was quite interesting:
INTEL P4 1.8A GHZ/512K(NW) SOCKET 478 RETAIL CPU(SL63X- MADE IN MALAY)
priced for 218.95

Whats the difference here? why is one $10 more?
They're both .13u 512k northwoods right?

anyone that used to do Intels knows they have 2 fabs, malaysia, and singapore. the malaysia plant has a reputation for turning out higher yeild chips than singapose, perhaps thats the reason for the distinction

As SJ mentioned, I think this "(SL63X- MADE IN MALAY)" is what makes it good. Apparently that specific stepping is better.

Besides, I only thought they made Northwoods in Costa Rica and Malay, but what do I know.

philli & malay...

Northwoods are now produced at 5 fabs, with a coulpe more to come online in the next couple months. the Malay fab had better yield ofPIII's and the orignal Celeron's leading to a higher percentage of overclockable chips.
Not sure if this has carried over to P4's, but retailers will take a premium price, if they can get it

I thought the phillipines was the desirable OEM chip for the Tullies... hmmm... I didn't even look to see where my PIII-S is from, but I have 1 each OEM & Retail on the C3... (philli & malay)...
