| Installing Adobe Flash Player 10 on Fedora Linux 64-bit with Firefox 64-bit Thought I'd provide some instructions, since Adobe don't.

| Download the player from Adobe: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/l...6_64.so.tar.gz This is BETA software, but seems to be pretty stable. Extract the archive. You can either do this from a command-line or by browsing to the directory where you downloaded the file to, and then clicking on the file. I'm assuming if you know enough to be able to get there using a command-line, then you also know enough to be able to extract the file. ![]() Copy the extracted libflashplayer.so to the .mozilla/plugins directory of your home directory, typically /home/username/.mozilla/plugins where username is the name of the user you log on with. Exit Firefox if it is already running, and then start firefox again. Type about: plugins in the address bar. Scroll down to the bottom and you should see something like the following: Shockwave Flash File name: libflashplayer.so Shockwave Flash 10.0 d20 MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes

| I'm downloading Opera right now since I know you use that, so that I can see what needs to be done there.

| Many thanks, mostly I'm Firefox, but having Opera as well would be a real plus! ":O}

| Interesting that they didn't release a windows version. Told a good friend that runs Vista 64 that flash had been released in 64 beta form but turns out not for windows.

| Understandable, though........with 64-bit Windows, something like 90% of the apps are still 32-bit running on WOW, whereas most 64-bit Linuxen are running primarily 64-bit apps (including web browsers), thus making a 64-bit Flash player more of a necessity for those platforms.

| Speaking of platforms and platform releases...permit me to remind the faithful that FEDORA 10 is out today...downloading 64 bit Fedora as I type. This seems the perfect time to THANK FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART all who helped me step out of Microsoft chains and breathe the free air of Open source Fedora! ....so like, thanks.":O}

| On Feb 24, 2009, Adobe released an 'alpha-refresh' of this plugin, version 10.0.22.87 (the old version was 10.0.d20.7). I've changed the link in the third post of this thread to point to the new download. Everything else remains the same. I've come across a couple of web sites that require the new plugin.
