| No change...sigh.... Could another app on my system be interfering with these settings?

| I meant the little buttons above and below the scroll wheel. Do they have any effect?

| I just found out that they do! I have several tabs open in my browser one move forward thought the tabs, the other backwards thought the tabs...may have other uses...didn't realize they worked in Linux! I've been looking for other apps that work with the mouse on my machine here's all I found...didn't make a difference...

| I blew it somehow! upon reboot Mint told me my Nvidia drivers were not installed and was using a lower rez. It gave me a choice of using back up or system drivers, I tried back up but no go, System drivers are working. I went into Nvidia setting to correct if I could, no go (see pics). I can do a restore in two hours ( fresh back up} if this can't be easily fixed...it DOES save you time! ":O}

| We will need to make a few changes to get the mouse working correctly. So hold off until I get home and test the changes first..

| Looks like the problem came from running nvidia-xconfig and it created it's own Input Section so we will remove that and let Mint handle the mouse for us.. Code: sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf Code: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse0" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "auto" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Option "Resolution" "256" Option "Sensitivity" "100" # generated from default EndSection

| Deleted the above section> rebooted, Mouse seems a bit better but lots of room for improvement going by pass usage before the slow down. small secondary buttons you mentioned no longer work. So I took a look at Xorg config, and it's pretty much gone, I'm real sure I only deleated what you wanted me to...if that helps..? BTW It no longer asks for my password after entering "sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf"

| Don't be too quick to restore stuff under linux. For the most part it's repairable if it's just configuration files. let's put the old file back. Code: sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf
