I need better mouse ware in Mint!

Here's what I'm using now, takes WAY to long and to much effort to get mouse across the screen. Any one has any suggestions...I search but only found Mouse pad...something else entirely! ":O}

GUI tools are limited to the max set in the xorg.conf file to change it we need to add a couple of lines to the file.

 sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Here is my mouse section in etc/X11/xorg.conf, the ones I marked in bold control the mouse speed and sensitivity adjust resolution up 50 at a time unitl you get what you want.

I saved and "replaced the current folder...Went up to 400 , but don't see a change...Do I need to re-boot?

I did... it just doesn't seem to be connecting with my hardware...no change...?

Is it a cheap mouse? I've had cheap mice and they usually have poor resolution. The only way I've fixed it is to get a new "better" mouse.

It looks like what I need..But...LOL I just know I'd end up without a mouse!

I found it. It would probably help if I spelled sensitivity correctly..

Change the spelling and it should be OK..

I'm not having a lot of luck with this...So maybe I should review my procedures:

After editing I "Save as" then choose "Replace the file". Then I reboot and look for change... I went up in my settings 50 at a time to 400...No change...

Change resolution to 400 or 800, leave sensitivity at 100.

Do your + - buttons on the mouse have any effect on the movement?

I have a MX518 which is just about the same mouse and it functions as it should.
