I wanted them to call it "Enola". But they didn't ask...

No reason, I've just always loved that name.

Like Fedora 16.
The main reason I tried it was because of Gizmo's comments. Now I like it.
You read my comments about Mint 13... I still want to try it...
I've found a number of extensions for Gnome 3 that make it a LOT nicer for me to use:

Install this one first; it will let you do a number of neat and cool things, including selectively enabling or disabling the other plugins you install, without having to uninstall them.

Name: gnome-tweak-tool:
Description : GNOME Tweak Tool is an application for changing the advanced settings
: of GNOME 3.
:
: Features:
: * Install and switch gnome-shell themes
: * Switch gtk/icon/cursor themes
: * Switch window manager themes
: * Change:
: * The user-interface and titlebar fonts
: * Icons in menus and buttons
: * Behavior on laptop lid close
: * Shell font size
: * File manager desktop icons
: * Titlebar click action
: * Shell clock to show date
: * Font hinting and antialiasing

Name : gnome-shell-extension-apps-menu
Description : Add a GNOME 2.x style menu for applications.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-auto-move-windows
Description : Lets you manage your workspaces more easily, assigning a specific workspace to
: each application as soon as it creates a window, in a manner configurable with a
: GSettings key.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-common
Description : GNOME Shell Extensions is a collection of extensions providing additional
: and optional functionality to GNOME Shell. Common files and directories
: needed by extensions are provided here.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-cpu-temperature
Description : Gnome Shell Extensions that adds an applet on the panel which reveals
: current CPU temperature in Degree Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-drive-menu
Description : Adds a menu in the system status area that tracks removable disk devices
: attached and offers to browse them and eject/unmount them.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-icon-manager
Description : Add/remove icons from top bar panel by simple editing gsettings.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-places-menu
Description : Adds a menu in the system status area that resembles the Places menu from
: GNOME 2.x

Name : gnome-shell-extension-remove-accessibility-icon
Description : This simple extension does nothing more than to remove the accessibility
: icon in the top right corner of the GNOME panel.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-sustmi-windowoverlay-icons
Description : This extension allow to view the icons over the application in the
: windows overview. Useful to avoid confusion with the windows when
: you have a lot of them open on the same desktop

Name : gnome-shell-extension-systemMonitor
Description : Monitor your system status

Name : gnome-shell-extension-theme-selector
Description : Gnome shell user theme selector with preview

Name : gnome-shell-extension-user-theme
Description : Lets the user select a custom theme for the Gnome shell. It will allow you to
: apply a style from /.themes/[themeName]/gnome-shell/gnome-shell.css

Name : gnome-shell-extension-windowsNavigator
Description : Allow keyboard selection of windows and work-spaces in overlay mode in
: GNOME Shell. Switch to overview mode (press the windows or alt+f1 key) and
: press the alt key to show numbers over windows. Press any number to switch
: to the corresponding window.

I dont' particularly like this next extension myself because it kinda screws up some of my windows, but other folks seem to like it:

Name : gnome-shell-extension-workspacesmenu
Description : Add work spaces menu to status area of Gnome Shell for fast switching.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-native-window-placement
Description : This extension employs an algorithm (taken from KDE) for layouting the
: thumbnails in the overview that more closely reflects the positions and relative
: sizes of the actual windows, instead of using a fixed grid.

I use these two because I prefer to use Pidgin for IM, rather than Empathy.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-noim
Description : Remove name and IM status options from Gnome Shell.

Name : gnome-shell-extension-pidgin
Description : This package contains the necessary components to integrate pidgin with
: GNOME Shell:
: * Izhar Firdaus's GNOME Shell Extension to display Pidgin chats as
: notifications in the Shell message tray.
: * Wojtek Sur?wka's Pidgin status notifier plugin
:
: In order to activate these components, you will need to:
: * Be running Pidgin (the extension uses Pidgin's DBUS API)
: * Restart GNOME Shell after installation
: * Enable the "GNOME Shell Connector" plugin within Pidgin

Might as well flash it with your laptop over a wireless router through a VPN!
Oh HELL no! I've had enough sleepless nights! But that was Dell's suggestion, using the DRAC.

flashrom actually is a pretty good tool, but it doesn't fully support all of the various BIOS flash chips out there (although support is getting better).
