A new forum to take us where we wish to go...

It will hardly surprise our active members that AOA has taken a distinct turn towards Linux.

Naturally many if not most who grace us with their participation still run MS Windows in one form or another, for one purpose or another.

But one of the most obvious and perhaps one of the most common reasons... that people who other wise might well prefer to run Linux, still feel they need Windows on their hard drive...is Gaming.

Although many games are developed on a Linux platform, few are really intended to be played on Linux. Those who wished to play games in Linux have had to be a rather determined and somewhat knowledgeable group.

ThunderRd has created our new Linux game Forums because AOA sees this as at last finally beginning to really change.

Those who take the time to read in our new forum will see that ThunderRd has gathered past posts from our General Linux topic and else where on the net to help inform us of new developments in Linux Gaming.

So we have emerging Games and improving software (Wine, PlayOnLinux, Steam, Phoronix and others...) that we will cover here.

As always, this forums will have a definite "How to" and "let's get it done" approch to members questions.

We will also welcome news of your triumphs in Game set up as well as in game play!

No the world is not new. If one wishes to game in Linux there are still to many barriers faced by the gamer, who wants, after all to play his games, not mess endlessly with the OS supporting that Game.

(although for some messing with the OS IS the game...":O}

But we see a new day on the horizon. We see Steam committed to Linux gaming and spending big bucks to make it happen. (I imagine it costs big bucks,...but I
don't really know that.)

That difficulties remain is one of ThunderRd's reasons for opening the forums.

More than anything else, we are here to help you with Your games under Linux. We are here to play your games under Linux with you! ":O}

We hope this topic will be of benifit to those who love Linux and are passionate about playing games.

Many Many Thanks ThunderRd!

TBH, I'm not nearly an expert, and really don't know too much about Linux gaming. I just see that it is becoming more of an active topic around the Internet. That is why I proposed to create this subforum.

I will stay on the lookout for articles of interest, and I hope that others will as well. So everyone please pitch in and post your finds here
