What would you say to Crisis 2 in Mint 13?

Yup, if it's through Steam, then Gabe's the one who's DRM is on it.

That may because you never loaded it though Steam. Yes I'm sure. Once I get my hardware straightened out I'll be able to learn more.

Bwahahahaha I am using STEAM for years now and I actually have the crysis package bought years ago. Played Crysis and Crysis Warhead several times and I think they are still amazing! Also played Crysis Wars which is the MP. I finished Crysis 2 on my XBOX and I am looking forward to Crysis3! In regard to linucs and gaming I am typing this under Ubuntu Desktop and the gaming is massive under this linucs attempt, have a look at this amazing offer of gaming under Ubuntu!

Well here you are in ubuntu when expressly advised to use Mint, given you meager qualifications. Well and good. We can do one of two things, or we can do both things.

We can list every limitation and imagined flaw and show the world just how un-adaptable and clinging we can be.

Or you can ask those who have gone before you, how to install a game you might WANT to play .
Or you can do both.":O}

You can relax while imagining you're trying to install and play Crysis under linucs. The outcome will be the same, maybe less stress and a beer in your backgarden in fresh air? And if you have wifi and a smart phone you can still post on AOA.

PS I heard Linux is supporting water cooling with its latest drivers.
PS2 I also heard the linucs fanboys call service packs - updates, how interesting!

I've been trying to improve things in Cry 2.
Spent the day trying different things. What I'm doing now is this:

I'm trying reinstalling Cry2 using the setup file that I hoped would be on my system, never found it. BUT!

I decided to try installing the off-line option, its doing something now and it's downloading from Steam...So this may be a work around for what I wanted, Cry2 running without steam... Won't know until POL is finished...POL is very non communicative about these things until it's over....

Has anyone one come across "7z" POL (The upgraded version) says I should install it in order to use 7z, but that's all it tells me!! Anyone got a clue?

7z is a compressed format. I use it in Windows all the time because its free.
I think you can extract it with Archive Manager in Mint.
Its the same as a .tar or gz.tar

I'm skeptical about the "offline" installation because in Windows you have to run the game at least once online before you can play it offline.
Believe me... I've had problems with this the last 5 years messing with steam.
But then again, I purchased Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars from Amazon and none of them require steam to run.

I'm getting frustrated with POL too because there is no indication of what its doing. Specially with the Windows libraries.
I wish there was a short description of each library when you click on them. Its more than happy to give you errors but when something successfully installs, there is rarely a confirmation.

I got 7Z! "Apt-get upgrade 7z" and away she went!!

I first asked it to install and it couldn't find the package...I tried Upgrade on a lark! LOL

Alas you were right to be skeptical! After it downloaded everything it craped out. So many crap outs yesterday I can't remember exactly ...oh yeah! It wanted a missing file, one I couldn't find, finally gave up on it so I could play a bit! ":O}

by the way, try Winetricks install games...
I found there are a few games not listed on Playonlinux there. I just installed Unreal Tournament 3 with no problems, no terminal, no error!
