I ve played through several Auto saves in Cry 2, then is just crashed. It seems once it crashes hard, that's it, but I'll try a few things again tomorrow.

I gave you all I got. I was shocked when it did run for me. Just out of the blue. Maybe it was a Steam update?
I don't know, but I did a lot of reading and almost gave up because nobody had the Securom error in Linux Mint that I was having.
Are you still getting that same Securom error or is it something else?

Securom. We will see what happens. Got my new drive should have been a one hour job to restore it... I spend 3 hours fighting with Acronis!! 20 minute minimum every click of a freaking button, after 2 hours waiting while it "refreshes" my back ups, I finally get to select the one I want... Guess what?

I get this message with a bright RED X:

"This is not the last back-up in the archive"

I click OK and we are back to square one!! WHY keep multiple back ups if you can only restore the last back up!!???

I tried once more anther hour wasted on Acronis 12.

I rebuilt most of my setup in half the time. I'll be playing catch up again tomorrow, Have my saved games so I won't have to DL them.

I'm going to start fresh with Wine 1.5 and POL 1.4 and what's new in wine tricks as well.

Man! By now you should be a Mint 13 and Wine expert!
You have installed them way more times that I have.

Have you done any research online about your new Acronis?
Its worth a try because its not supposed to work like that... obviously

I went one better! I learned to use CloneZilla!! My life has changed! I no longer fear my backup software! A baby would be safely backed up by CloneZillia and not age a day in the restore!! ":O}

YES!!!
Its not that hard after you do it a few times huh?
Are you using a flash drive?

By the way, in regards to your Crysis 2 crashing... I was reading about some games on WineHQ and someone was complaining about a game crashing from old saves... the suggestion was to delete the old save games and start over.
You may want to try that too. Start over and see if it crashes again.

I "think" what happens ids this, once you crash, that becomes your saved point. So when you re-inter, your asking to return to your crash. If I go 2 saves back, I'm OK.

Yesterday was a 64 bit day. I know what I want to do next in 64 bit. Delete my 64 bit V-drives for Cry 3 and Borderlands, then reinstall in a 32 bit V-drive and try again. To many things are not installing in 64 bit ( "This is a 32 bit program you cannot use it in 64 bit"), kinds of thing.

Once I'm up in 32 I may have an easier time dealing with 64. When I get time I'll have to read your USB guide and apply to CloneZilla!

I think you are right. The stinking crash corrupts your save game or something related to saving and loading games.
So when you reload, its messed up.
Did you try starting over? Your last post said you played for an hour but with graphical artifacts.

Hmmm try starting over? LOL Many many many times! LOL

I've been trying to many things to fast... I had a very nice and stable game, still have to play at lowest level which is "High" more than that and I slow WAAAAY down, still thinks I have an 8300GS, even under wine 1.5.15

Wine still lies about my card, even launched steam with 1.5.15, still the same.

One version of wine will install some files to wine tricks and POL, but not others. a real hit and miss that way.

I played an hour without artifacts, then I screwed it up! So it's there, I just have to find it again, worked to late and lost track of what I did again!. This in 32 bit, I may be able to do it in 64 bit by installing a 32 bit V-drive.

BTW the wrong wine can turn Cry -2 to RED mold looking stuff all over everything!

That is so weird!!!
I can't believe it ran fine for an hour! Let me know if you figure out what happend.
In your case, I can see having multiple Steam Virtual Drives being beneficial. Because if one game is working great, you don't want to mess it up by installing other versions of Wine and other packages that will mess it up.
That actually makes a LOT of sense

I got it back! In 32 bit. Still not completely satisfied. I'm using a separate V-drive for Cry 2.

I'm in 64 bit right now, I'll post details once I re-boot for the day, really prefer 64 to 32bit Mint. Folds ever so much faster! ":O}
