Basically I want Steam to do what POL does, make it work, but with less effort on the part of the user. ":O}

Man I wish!
But we know that may never happen!
Steam Linux Client is native to Linux so it won't support all the directx & dot net stuff we have to mess with in PlayOnLinux.
Native is better anyway.
Sad because even with a Native Steam client, I'm still using the Winblows Steam client for my existing PC games in Mint.
Go figure!
If I went 100% Linux, I would still use PlayOnLinux for Steam because of the 3rd party games like Just Cause 2, The Ship, Dark Messiah, etc. etc.

I'm still hopeful about Steam Linux, they bite off a very large chew, We shouldn't be surprised that they need time to digest it.

I'm patient.
I'll wait as long as it takes.
I may even re-buy games just to support the Linux cause!

I have a few more games on my Steam Linux client after I activated the licenses for my Humble Bundle.
Two games won't launch: Aquaria & Braid
But World of Goo runs perfectly!

This is my concern... who is going to help me troubleshoot Aquaria and Braid? Steam support? Steam forums?
These games already run in Linux, so if they won't launch from Steam what do I do?

I thought Humble Bundle stuff was completely DRM free?

Ooh ooh ooh
check out HumbleBundle.com

Indie developers & some reputable game companies are releasing new games, old games and all kinds of stuff in a bundle where we can pay anything we want!

I purchased a few in the past and got some really cool games!
Not to mention you can always login later and download your games again.

Humble Bundle 7 has some pretty good games:
  • Dungeon Defenders
  • Legend of Grimrock

Things seem to keep happening around the edges. This may indicate a larger audience than I thought...

Interesting stats:

Average purchase: $6.65
Average Windows: $6.19
Average Mac: $7.90
Average Linux: $10.46

One of the unchallenged truths of linux has been the assumption that no-one on Linux wants to pay for anything (driven by the fact that Linux itself is free).

The average contribution from Linux users is 50% more than from Windows users, and 30% more than from Mac users (generally the user base asserted to be more willing to spend money).

Granted, this is a very specific segment and can't reasonably be extended to the overall Linux software market, but it at least challenges the traditional dogma.

I like those odds too.
I"m glad Linux users are willing to pay and paying more isn't bad either.
Guess some of us really want to make an impression with PC games on Linux
