Mint 14 Nemo freezing up

I connect to my Fedora 8 server from Mint 14 with Samba over my Gigabit connections.
The shares are setup in Fedora 8 with the smb.conf and folder permissions.
Actually works GREAT in Windows. I have copied 11 Gig directories back-n-forth.
Anyways, for no apparent reason I will copy a game from Fedora 8 to Mint 14 and it starts copying, but then freezes.

When I open the System Monitor Nemo shows no CPU activity.
I mention Nemo because when I try to shutdown Mint it gives me an error about Nemo running...

What the heck is Nemo?
What other processes are involved in copy/paste through the network?

I've had another strange problem with Mint 14 in the last couple of days.
Maybe its related to the Nemo issue?

I was previewing some screenshots in Image Viewer and then started up Gimp 2.8, all of a sudden each image I opened in Gimp also opened in individual Image Viewers.
So now I had about 15 windows open that I didn't want.

It originally started when I was testing Mass Effect 2 in PlayOnLinux.
I would launch the game and all of a sudden 20 bash windows opened and 5 instances of the game.

What is going on?

Nemo is the file manager that Mint uses.

Apparently this is a common problem with Mint 14.

Linux Mint Forum

I posted my two cents on it too

This is a problem that only appears when interfacing with Fedora? I ask as I have no problems... No doubt from your post that Mint is responsible....I'm just selfishly wondering If I'm likely to see this myself?

After reading a couple of forum posts on Mint forums its anytime you use Nemo for transferring files. Flash drive, over the network, folder to folder.
Try copying a large file and let me know if it finish's by its-self.

No one has complained about copying from DVD or CD ROM.
I have installed a 2 DVD game with no slowness and even created folders from it. No problems there.

OK, I'm copying 31+ gigs from my Corsair 64 gig thumb drive (USB 3.0)

it will take a while":O} I'll get back to you.

Still waiting so I thought I'd mention that this is how I load my files into a new mint, so this has worked for me up until now...so I'm kinda expecting it to work now....unless an update has set things sideways on me.":O}

There will be a slight further delay as it had a copying problem with one file and paused on me...isn't this exciting! LOL

were at 21.3 gig now...going strong...

I don't like to stick my nose into another man's rituals...but what kind of chickens have you guys been sacrificing?

Just completed...I use Rock Island Reds almost excursively ....BTW

I'll try a trasfer from a 2.0 USB drive.

As you have said previously, you won't have any problems.
All I've done with my Mint 14 is apply updates, installed LinSteam, PlayOnLinux, Wine, Chrome and tested Mass Effect 2 & Wolfenstein.

could any of those have screwed up my Nemo?
Could I remove it and re-install it?

Code:
apt-get remove nemo
then
Code:
apt-get install nemo

Dang! Whats wrong with my Mint?
I noticed some more updates this morning, but none of them showed Nemo.
I'm kinda stumped and it really sucks because I can't copy my downloaded or Steam games to my Linux for testing.

I'm pretty stock here. I can't think of what I have or don't have any different from you. I always install updates first thing in the morning so I'm up to date as well.

Have you tried transferring files from mint to thumb drive and back? or just from the thumb drive?

ok, I'll try that.
Just weird stuff going on, even this morning.
I had the same problem with Gimp and every image opening in a separate image viewer window.

If you think Openbox is related, try 'apt-get purge -s openbox' first, to see what apt-get wants to remove. If it's only OB, as it should be, purge it and see if the issue goes away. I would doubt it, though. Openbox should have nothing depending on it, so it's a free agent.

I can try that too. I wouldn't think the Openbox install has anything to do with it either. In fact, I was happening before I installed Openbox.

I backed up my Half-Life install files from Steam onto my server. I was trying to restore them in my new Mint 14 installation on my SSD drive.
That is when I noticed the major slow-down.

Yeah, well, it's not OB then. Have you checked the bugtracker?

Just a shot in the dark...":O}
