Really 15 is just a bit prettier and a bit more mature, some very nice improvements you will enjoy. Reinstalling Games is a bit time consuming, but not problematic.

Some awesome new desktops":O}

Nope, I won't do it! I finally started playing some full native games in Linux and don't want to start over again.
I'll wait until 16... unless you can convince me.

I may install very soon if I can figure out how to keep my Warzone 2100 saved games.

Save games are usually in one of two places:
1. program files under the game directory
2. home in a save game directory

Are you in Linux now?

Ah, ok...
This forum posts that they are found in the actual game directory where you launch the game from.

Is that where the game launcher was?
The forum says warzone.exe, but that is a Windows executable

I can't think of any compelling feature anyone need upgrade from Mint 14 to acquire...nor any compelling reason one should not upgrade if they are "Up for it"

I just like doing new installs...how crazy is that! LOL

Very crazy!
So I'll eventually upgrade as I always do... but I'll wait until any bugs an tutorials are posted so when I do upgrade I can find this stuff if I have problems.

BTW....have either of you ever successfully "Upgraded" Mint without a complete re-install? I've started out to a few times, but things never seem to go as planed and I've always ended up doing a clean and fresh install from scratch.

I think a "clean install" is better anyways.
Remember when I tried the upgrade from Mint 13 to Mint 14?
it worked but my network configuration was messed up.
I found out later that I did it too soon!
There was a bug in the upgrade and someone finally posted a fix that could be applied with Terminal. It was a simple command and it fixed the networking problem.
Lame!

So that would be a no? LOL

I'll try it when I'm sure I've finished with my Mint 14 install.

Or when Boo posts his guide! ":O}

Question:

Would you have been able to keep all your currently installed games and would they have run,...or would you have had to reinstall them?

Considering that your games are all in PlayOnLinux, you can just backup the whole "wineprefixes" folder and restore it in the new operating system.
Then all you have to do is create new shortcuts to the game.
You can actually backup:
  • shortcuts
  • virtual drives (wineprefixes)
  • resources (windows packages)
  • wine versions

All you would have to do is install Mint 15, install Wine, install PlayOnLinux and then copy all of the above back to their original location and it should act as if nothing changed.

Of course it depends on anythingchanging in Wine, PlayOnLinux and Mint.

Didn't we run into trouble doing that...Securom(spelling?) acting up and preventing launch? Did you finally get around that?
