As all I've installed is Borderlands, I had to install Furmarks and Fluid marks fresh, so I went ahead and re-installed POL again so we have a fresh copy. I tried with the default wine then with 1.7 cause it looks so sexy, neither worked.

So now I'm trying an update to 4.2.1 POL (from 4.1) Which returns the old...see pic.

So I'm going to redo your code Gizmo and try it again...be back in a second...The code returns a already there message now...

4.1 POL doesn't have the debug side panel, like 4.2.1 does... so here's debug you asked for in 4.2.1 Boo.":O

What exactly didn't work with Wine 1.7?
Did Steam fail to launch? Did Borderlands fail to launch?

Also, the Debug you posted only shows the Futuremark output. I would like to see the Steam and Borderlands too.

From the Debug it looks like Wine isn't using OpenGL properly.
This is either an Nvidia driver problem or maybe you can just set Direct Draw Rendering to "opengl" in PlayOnLinux Display under configure:
  1. Launch PlayOnLinux
  2. Click Configure
  3. Select virtual drive
  4. Click Display Tab
  5. Direct Draw Renderer: opengl

Also I found that Steam will work with most Wine versions if you add -no-dwrite to the argument in configure... like this:
Need help installing 32bits OpenGL libraries in Mint Debain-mirrors34.png

Otherwise, the side-effect is missing fonts.

Steam works great with Wine 1.7.... nothing works at all with debain/POL in 4.1 it stops complaining about the 32 bit Libs, but still can't lanch a game nor my two benchmarks Fur and Fluid. In 4.2 it stll crys for DX9 which IS installed.

I'm always set to OpenGL in config.

" -no-dwrite" nice trick! I'll try to remember that! ":O}

Which Debian PlayOnLinux version did you download?
You have to match the version you are currently using:
  • Wheezy
  • Squeeze
  • Lenny
  • Etch

Since you are using Debian Mint I'm not even sure if these versions apply or not?

I'm in Ubuntu Mint for the moment, but as I recall it's POL 4.2.1 which TR informed me is Wheezy for Debain and I'd using the newest Mint Debain 64 which as I recall is Mint 15 same as Ubuntu.

I runs like perfection and is noticeably faster or seems to be than Mint Ubuntu... and Mint says it's faster ...it just can't run games I think it just can't install DX 9 for some reason.

Ok, so you have the correct version of PlayOnLinux, but can't install D3dx9... it might be a good time to post on the PlayOnLinux forums to see what Petch and DJ think.
But remember to follow the forum rules, they are pretty dang strict and if you don't post all of your specs and debug output, they might close your post.
