Any other DC projects?

I know this may be controversial, and it's not my intention to divide the group, but to get (and give) fresh input on the subject of Distributed Computing projects.

I know this forum has been a part of Folding @ Home for a long time, and it seems that interest has waned. I know I'm burned out on running F@H, at least for the present, and I know a switch does me good.
So I'm asking if you've considered running any of the newer projects?
Boinc has a few projects in the medical/bio field now, and starting a team on a new project, may breathe some fresh air into the "team" here. There are also other projects that cover the medical end of DC.

I run a few different projects, but have no real team loyalties on any of them.
If AOA formed a team on any of those projects, I'd be willing to crunch with AOA and more likely to stay aboard a project for the long term.
(that means I like it here )

As I said, no offense meant, and hopefully none taken. Just an idea.

Me thinks you are asking the old dogs to learn new tricks here.

If I were running a computer for any appreciable time I would join you LP. I like the looks of about 3 of their projects. I just don't have my computer on long enough to make it worthwhile.

Maybe someone will jump on with you and you can get a team rolling.

All I can do is bring up the subject, after that it's a team decision.

I'm currently running WCG (under Boinc) with a little bit of Rosetta @ Home thrown in.
I started on Simap, but they are still in public beta and have some issues to work out.
All those are medical type dc projects.

Btw, F@H Boinc is in alpha testing. That may be a good choice for those that still want to run F@H.

I have no problem with this as my goal has always been the greatest good. But for many Team competition between ourselves and between ourselves and others is an important if not the most important part of their participation.

I might suggest WCG (World Community Grid) then. It can be run either through it's original program or through Boinc.
It's easiest to install and run it through it's original program first, and you can switch to Boinc later if you'd like.
Read about the project here. It's been running for about a year, so it's fairly new, but old enough to have most of the kinks worked out.
You can run Human Proteome, and/or Fight Aids @Home.
I believe there may be another project added in the near future (Africa @ Home). You can choose to any or all.

Download the program, and someone will need to start a team for AOA, if we choose this project.
We can then request to have our team added to the stats at Free-DC.

If I did this, I would be dragged from my house and shot at dawn! (one thing to defect, altogether another to lead the insurrection! ":O}

My greatest asset to you besides the one box I have running (all I can afford right now) is that you can point out I was up and running in 15 minutes, everyone will take from that just how easy it is to setup and run this fascinating new project for mankind.

I would of course appreciate it if we could fit AOA Forums into out team title ":O}

So would you like to set this up for us and post to members how to join our Team?

Mean while I'll set us up with a topic and try to convince the faithful that this doesn't mean we don't love F@H anymore. ":O}

Hmmm. Stats Signature graphics.... I'm going to ask for patience. Our Admin Team has been pushing the proverbial stone uphill for weeks to get us up for Christmas, this after long months of preparation. Then to accomadate/create alternatives we didn't foresee our needing. They are still at this now...

Let get rolling and I'll hit them up in Feb. for a sig Graphic. LP will have to get with our Graphics team to work out a design for us.
