I got a problem. No Idea if or how this might be related to BOINC other than it began soon, not immediately, but soon after I Installed it.

Thunderbird, my mail client is messing up a bit. I click on a e-mail and hit delete and nothing happens. "Sometimes if I wait a WHOLE minute or more it will then delete, usually not. If I right click my "In box" and choose open in a new window it will delete until I leave the new window to follow a link into our forum. When I go back to my mail client, the process starts over again. I've tried reinstalling TBird, no joy.

Also when I ask it to go get mail it just sits there do nothing but annoying me. Close it open a new instance and it still won't connect and download mail. Right click open in a new window and my mail is retrieved automatically as it is set to do.

For a while yesterday My sp check stopped functioning in our forum (Firefox 1.0.7 as 1.5 has no spell checker yet, spellbound won't work with the new version yet.)I messed about for an hour or so trying to figure it out, looked for updates the usual... About the time I was about to give up and look for a new solution, it started working again... has worked perfectly since. I'm thinking BOINC or my first virus...

Thoughts or suggestions?

I'm "trying to reset BOINC to defaults to see if this changes anything. LP can you suggest where my settings might be mis-remembered?

Under "network usage" I would set it to yes for "disconnect when done"
That's just me though. Guess I need to look a little deeper as I didn't see those options for my boxes.

It doesn't look good for BOINC. I Updated and reset. sending work, but "no work sent" as I "reached daily quota of 30 results" So BOINC is now idle, TBIRD now works same as she ever has.

Once BOINC sends new work we will see what happens.

I would give it 10 gigs hd space (it doesn't use that much), and set "connect to network every" to 1. At .01 it may connecting too often and interferring with your email?
I haven't had that problem, so I don't know if that's possible.
Set limit? I'll have to look into that.

This is where having the regular program would have been handy. All you'd need to do is start it up and let it crunch.

One idea. In Boinc, in the command tab, check "always run" and "network activity always available". Close the program, reopen and hit update and see if you get new work.
Then let me know if TBird is ok.

You'll need to select the part you want to post, and "copy selected" or just "copy all" and paste it.

Ok even with BOINC deactivated still had the problem...So having a back up from just after installing WCG I did a restore. All is well again. I think I'll leave as is for now. Can I dump the current work in WCG and dowload a fresh WU?

Which one are you running? Boinc or the original agent?
If it's the original, graphical agent, let it run.

I shall let it run then. Really it was a giant pain having to sweet talk my mail client to send /receive/ delete, I know I should be, but I'm simply not use to such abuse! ":O}

For all I know BOINC is just the innocent victim of my slander and incompetence, but that doesn't excuse them!! ":O}

I'll give them a bit of time to discover the error off my ways and create something Daniel ~ proof.
