WCG though boinc problems.

I seem to end up with a lot of errors, like:

2006-01-08 09:42:02 [World Community Grid] Unrecoverable error for result ed997_19_5 (process exited with code 131 (0x83))
2006-01-08 09:42:02 [World Community Grid] Unrecoverable error for result ed997_19_5 (process exited with code 131 (0x83))
2006-01-08 09:42:02 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: process exited

as well as

2006-01-08 08:11:47 [World Community Grid] Started download of el002_15_el002.psipred
SIGSEGV: segmentation violationStack trace (3 frames):
./boinc[0x80845b2]
/lib/libpthread.so.0[0x401635d9]
/lib/libc.so.6[0x4004ae38]

Exiting...

Can anyone suggest what the heck is going on here?

What's not completely stable? The machine is rock solid, so I can only presume it's an issue with BOINC.

how long has it been that you have been running the system @ that speed? parts degrade over time...might not be tha case, but it's always possible.

Aedan, you might want to post the errors in the WCG Linux support forum.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/fo...reads?forum=83

You'll have to sign in.

It's running at stock, and every other operation is rock stable - uptime is just a bit over 90 days so far and the machine is just a bit over a year.

I'm seeing errors as well. two to three a day ( unrecoverable errors). Aedan please see my post on other problems I'm seeing. For others, a reminder, I'm running 2000Pro.

Hey guys. If you're having trouble with WCG/Boinc, can you post about it in the WGC forum? Since the Boinc version is fairly new (only came out about a month ago), they would be interested in hearing about errors and problems encountered. They're more likely to have an answer for you too, so you don't waste time, sitting idle.
There are a few guys there that help run the program and they are pretty good to get you help right away.

They'll need you to post your "messages" , and your OS, etc.
Just go to your "my Grid" page and log in and click on Forums. You are already registered using your WCG name.

Thanks!

Daniel, you're not using BOINC though, as you're not running Linux. The errors I'm seeing are fatal, in that they usually crash the client.

It "says" it's BOINC? Perhaps BOINC is just handling some part of things?

There are both Windows and Linux versions of Boinc and WCG works on both.

My confusion there. I'd been talking to Gizmo - well, that's my excuse at least!

Yes, BOINC is the framework to run these applications, and WCG runs inside that framework. And mine still crashes, but I'll wait and see what the WCG ppl have to say about it!

Well, that works for me. Sorry Giz. He said it, not me.

aedan, you never said what your OS is.
It's possible that the installation version I posted for Linux, may not be exactly right for your OS?
I posted what worked for me on Mepis and SuSe.

edit- ah, I see it's Gentoo and that's way beyond my Linux capabilities.
You should get an answer in the Grid forum though.
(and now I know who AOAForums is)

I've shut down BOINC and reinstalled the WCG client, running now. We'll see if this changes anything.

Still screwing up. I did reboot. Now I'll try closing the WCG client.
