Cable router is dead, I think?

First off, Howdy Dan, Wild Andy C and everyone else.
Here is the poop. I have a SMC 7004BR cable/printer router and it has worked great for 5 months, until 2 days ago.
It will not recognize my IP, I have done the following;
1. Checked the properties for the TCP/IP net. card. Everything is good.
2. Checked all connections and even swapped out the Cat 5 cables. Good.
3. Downloaded latest drivers from SMC. Good.
4. Ran "winipcfg" and reset all. Good.

I can get the cable to work when hooked directly to my PC, but as soon as I hook up to router, dead.
Any and all ideas would be apreciated.

You did say any and all ideas so here's mine: Find someone with the exact same cable router and take your messed up one over to their place and swap it in place of theirs. Then you'll know if your router is bad and you won't be putting them out too much by bringing their good router over to your place to test. Other than that I've no suggestions, I don't know enough about them to hazzard a guess.

we got alightnig hit here that took out the uplink on our router but left the rest of it working. It does sound like it is the router though.

Come to think of it, we had a pretty good thunderstorm Sunday night. I got home from Cleveland and all the clocks had to be reset.

whats even funnier is it went right though the cable modem and didn't hurt it only the router's uplink port.

Router is D.O.A. SMC is RMA'ing it for me. This sucks having 2 PC's and 1 cable hookup. Hopefully it will be a quick turnaround.

Update on the RMA'ed SMC Barricade Cable Router;
I received the replacement router today. That is less than 6 days after I mailed it. Now that is Customer Service!!
