Help needed in choosing new mobile processor I'm looking to build a notebook starting from a barebone and need some help in choosing a mobile CPU. There are two new processors out that I am currently looking at: the AMD Turion 64 Mobile MT-34 and the Pentium M 750 (533 MHz fsb). I've always been a bigger fan of AMD but I heard the pentium M's provide good performance for notebooks. The Turion is only ~$20 more than the Pentium, so that is negligible. I plan on using this notebook when I return to college in a few months. I want to be able to do some gaming on this rig. Does anyone have any experience with either of these processors and could tell me which is the best bang for the buck? Also, which would give me longer battery life? Thanks in advance! |

Pentium M's even with their crippled memory bandwidth are clock for clock faster than even an FX64 chip so for performance they are your choice. I believe they are also lower powered than even the turion so again they come out tops there So I'd say it's all down to price, unless you can get a faster clocked turion for the same price I'd side with a P-M chip |

K, guess I'm goin with the PM-750. I think I'd rather go with that too since I don't think I can run dual channel or DDR2 533 with the Turion which I can with the 750...I guess Pentium still has the lock-down on notebook processors. I was readin somethin about Intel planning to release a dual core mobile chip by the end of the year...now I'm contimplating on whether I should wait for that or not |

If they are like the Pentium-D's and are priced in line with single cores then dual core yonah's would be a great choice if you want to wait |
