Timed internet blocker??

I have a slight problem in that my 40GB on peak quota is somewhat... low, and I have a few very, very large DVD ISOs I'm in the process of downloading via bittorrent.

Now, my off-peak quota is still more than enough to cover these, without touching my peak quota.

Off-peak: 12:00 midnight - 8:00AM
Peak: 8:00AM - 12:00 midnight

Problem is, I don't wake up at 8AM. I don't even know what 8AM looks like. So I need a program to effectively cut off or slow to dialup speed the internet access (network access in general) of that machine (winxp) or kill my bittorrent client, dead on 8AM, or as near as possible.

This sounds extremely simple, and my old Netgear router even had a feature for doing just this, but my new D-Link does not, and since its already 3AM, a fast response would be of great help!

there are afew clients that offer this functionality. I have gotten off of the torrent scene, so I'm not to familiar on which one will do this, but Azureus springs to mind.

I know with Azureus you can throttle the connection, but im not so sure that you can set it to throttle at different times.

I was thinking of something like Net Nanny. You can set windows of time for internet access. Not sure if this is what your thinking of though. I use this on my kids computer to limit access.

why dont you just do this

Start > run > cmd

c:\>at 08:00 "cmd /c tskill Azureus"

This will do exactly what you need done. kill Azureus at 8 am each morning exactly.

edit: The latest azureus allows you to throttle speeds based on time. From their site:
Schedule upload and download speed limits with Speed Scheduler

Also, you may want to schedule disk defrag at like 8:05am so that you keep your system running smoothly
