New Laptop

I've just ordered a refurbished Thinkpad T40 for £226 and there's a few things i want to check out before it arrives if anyone can help.

Firstly, i'm looking to get a car adapter and i can't work out what wattage i need because there appears to be several different power ratings all compatable with the T40.

Secondly, is it worth getting a second battery (it takes 2 at once) because although it comes with the extended bettery, the battery time isn't guaranteed and besides the estimated times are always dirty stinking lies ...

Also if there's anything werid i should know about the T40, please do say

Thanks for any help.

Sweet what are the specs? I did a search but it seems to come in many varieties.

Ah sorry,

1.5Ghz Petimum M (Centrino setup)
512mb+256Mb RAM (Only PC2100)
32MB Radeon 9000
1024x796 Screen
802.11a/b/g wifi
40Gb (That's going to fill in like 5 mins...)

I dont think any of the other specs vary so http://reviews.cnet.com/ThinkPad_T40...-20947059.html
should have the rest right.

It's not the best, but i don't think i could get better, escpecially in a thinkpad for that price.

Welcome to AOA, Ultimate_death!

I think you did very well, I bought a new laptop from Dell that's quite close to what you have in capability for twice what you paid. If you have a solid one year warranty, you're doing great! IIRC, T40's were very desirable and expensive notebooks when IBM made them. Chances are that Lenovo built IBM's notebooks!
