No i have never heard of doing that. The reason is i think i remember they dont use standard connection properties if you look in your network config you will see a aol-dialup adapter. I think they have cutsom settings they pbbly dont want to let out. |

As far as I know, AOL don't use a standard PPP session running TCP/IP. They use their own propriatory protocol for communication. Thus, the only way you can access AOL is using their software. The other option is to upgrade your machine to handle AOL's software at the same time as UT or swap your provider. AidanII

I wish you good fortune and Godspeed on finding a job so that you can free yourself from the slime dripping scum soaked shackles of AOL. I have friends that have used it for five years. One of them knows PC's at least twice as well as I do. Perhaps AOL hasn't mistreated them. Don't get me started on the inexcusable, illegal and immoral actions that AOL took on my behalf. Surely someone in your area needs their lawn cut? Still under six feet of snow? How about that driveway?

![]() So AOL is the anti-christ. I really hate AOL with a passion. OH yea, they never did honor their email about the 3 free months.

Get yourself a cable connection in most cases its about $40 a month and you can write a check. Not like they are much better than AOL because AOL and Time Warner are sleeping together. The reason connection speeds are so low on RR networks anymore is because they are/were routering connections through routers in dulles(sp) VA. This was going on about Jan but I don't know if it is still going on but if you see atnn or something like that when you do a tracert then your being routed through AOL in VA.

If you still want to chat or something just use AIM. Or try using AOL's bring your own access plan, and connect using tcp/ip. Rob

I'm using AOL because it's free, and I can't afford the $50 a month for cable. For games now I just use netzero, but those popup ads are getting annoying. So i'm guessing no straight dialing with AOL. Oh well.
