Jobs has just dropped the price on an 8GB iPhone from $599 to $399. What a waste of $200, if you only bought one a month or two ago!

Tbh price drops like that aren't all too uncommon in the tech gadget industry :s

Still too expensive for me to consider getting one though

It wouldn't be surprising to me if the vast majority of those sales were to Mac Geeks, "Fashionable" people and people who hate iPhones and wanted to do something like smash it with a hammer and put the video on YouTube.

So once all these guys have their iPhone, the only sales they'l be making is replacing the ones that break.


Though I guess that'l still be enough...

If they're doing great, then why the Price cut? Unless it was planned, in which case, Apple screwed it's fanbois hard.

I've heard some rumors that the Apple/AT&T exclusive is falling apart because of the iPhone hack, and I strongly suspect that the original price point was a consequence of that exclusivity (in other words, AT&T was sticking it to all their customers). Now that the deal is falling apart due to the hack, Apple are gearing up to sell the phone without the exclusive, and the price point is changing to reflect that.

'Course, that's just supposition on my part. I could be totally wet.

Still you guys made a point or two to sway me, espicially the price cut and the source of the info, which I was to sloppy to recognize.

The fanbois have kicked up a fuss, and Jobs has now offered them $100 credit.
