Setting router up in dorm room

Hey guys, well I got my wireless router set up in my new dorm room, its set up as a network switch right now, but I dont really like the way that gives others access to my shared folders.

Is there a way to set up the router so it would be just like the schools network was a cable or dsl connection going into the router?

What model router is it.

I use my router with WPA2 encription then password protect my shared files as well.

You can do this by opening up the run box and typing: net user guest <password/passphrase of your choice> (without the <> )

Ok I got it figured out, I set it saying my ISP gives me a static IP. I set the IP for the WAN to something in the range used by the schools network, and set the ISP's gateway to the network's gateway.

Now all my networked pc's are behind my own firewall and my shared folders are not accessible to ayone else on the schools network
