Sony Ericsson Xperia drops Windows for Android

An Android-based version of Sony Ericsson's first Windows Mobile smartphone, the Xperia, has appeared online, prompting speculation that an official unveiling could be just around the corner.

This is good news. The Xperia X1 was an absolutely awesome phone, but it was let down by WM.

It has been speculated that 2009 is the year of the Android. Let's hope that's the case.

I've had a play with Android and I really like it. I don't think it has the "wow" factor to knock the iPhone off it's perch just yet, but who knows.

As long as it meets the acceptability requirements for corporate use! Things like encryption as standard - that's encryption where the OS doesn't hand the data over to anyone who asks for it...
