Mobile 3G base station Battlefield Connect goes to war

Smartphones are becoming a tool of choice for the military, who realise that these lightweight and ubiquitous gadgets provide a lot more power than the traditional "big green boxes" provided by the defence industry. Smartphones are already used for carrying bulk field manuals and acting as translators. In the pipeline are more tactical apps like a Blue Force Tracker showing where friendly forces are on the map and live video feeds from drones. The potential is huge, and if you happen to be fighting in a place without mobile phone coverage, now you can take a base station with you.
