| thanks dan, i was wondering if spode could register my name as well and add the reg fee to a one year contract with the $10/mo plan. it would be nice if i could do all my trsnactions under one company and i figure registering and hosting for 1 year would cost about $175. i also wanted to know if you offered web mail service or is it only accessable through POP, and does the email service support IMAP. i'd also like to know spode, of what type of back up you do, at what frequency, and will the back be make on the same machine or at another server. the reason why i'm asking is that the mail and documents that will hosted are critical and we do update alot of documents often. edit: one more thing spode, what about security? and where is this server located (country, home or office)?

| Hehe, I'm not Spode, but I can tell you that the server is located in Houston, TX, USA (last time I checked), and we do have a webmail service. I just tested it out and it worked. Go figure ![]() That's all I know about that server ![]()

| If you have got ICQ, add me (68543324). As far as backups, becuase of this server change, I don't think I actually got round to setting one up. BUT I will do, and it will backup every night to the second server than runs the forums. IMAP, I'm not 100% sure if thats switched on at the momment. Buy POP3 is, and yes, we do have webmail. Login - you want SSH login yes? Will all your users require this? One thing we have to ask, is what type of files are we talking here? Because what your describing is very similar to a napster type set up...

| Thanks for responding Spode. we do non-profit work on labor and human rights monitoring. Our organization involves home-based operations among a team of five people here and about 25 in the East Coast (US). The reason why we need a host is so that our people here and abroad can access there mail as well as shared files and folders on the same server. Our people will be using and editing template and documents in the field so it is crucial that all files be incrementaly backed up as often as possible. Yes all users must have a name and password in order to access anything in the directory. i have to get ICQ up and running again so i'll hollar at you as soon as i can. i hope we can come up with some kind of arrangement so please, if you have any information that you think will help sell this thing to my employer, you can mail me at dgnetwork@mydestiny.net thanks.

| Spode, i've given up trying to get a DSL account so i could set up my own server. the overhead is just to high and it wouldn't be practical if i left the company. i've almost decided to allow AOA host my files. do you still have ICQ running? i'm still waiting for authorization from you. by the way, i'm still looking for a program that will allow authorized members in my location to upload and download documents. i was considering an Explorer integrated ftp client, for example, Deerfield's Internet Neghborhood. do you have any other recomendations? thanks. ps. i finally got my ICQ up 164438481
