AOL mail problems - VERY URGENT!

Okay, I warn in advance, that this may be a little long winded, but it's very comfusing, as well. Okay, A friend of mine just got Roadrunner Cable access. They had AOL. His mom went ahead and paid for another month of AOL service before she got cable, and therefore still has mail/is recieving mail on AOL's server she needs to get to. Naturally, the first thing I did when the RR guy left was uninstall AOL. I figured we could just sign onto AOL Anywhere and get her mail. Umm........big fat NO!! When we went to the site and logged in, we went to mail, and got some kind of error code in the IE address bar. Okay, so I had a DUH moment. Reinstalled AOL, use TCP/IP to connect. Signs on fine. WELCOME! Go to mail. Nothing. From what I understand his mom gets some sort of time out error. So, what do we do? Go back to my house. Try the same thing on the server/my dad's box, and we get the same result here. Just for kicks we tried it on two of the three computers behind the server and VOILA! It works just fine. We can get to the mail and everything's cool. My first thought was that it had something to do with the server computers, or gateways, not liking AOL. This wouldnt surprise me if server computers felt the same way about AOL as it's users do. But I highly doubt this is the case. So what's up? Both computers/servers that we've tried are running Zone Alarm Pro 3. Both are Windows XP. If it helps, here are system specs.

Friend's Comp:
-------------------
850Mhz Duron
128MB PC133
40GB Maxtor
Biostar Mainboard w/Onboard A/V
SMC NIC

My Server Box:
-------------------
667Mhz P3
128MB PC100
19GB Maxtor
Super Mainboard w/Onboard Sound
ATI XPert 8MB Video
Linksys/Intel NIC

Not exactly power-packed systems, but they get the job done.

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!!! It is a matter of going back to dialup!! God knows what a tragedy that would be. Thanks in advance guys.

Have you tried logging in with ZAP turned off? Perhaps the permissions are not logged in correctly with ZAP.
