Weird XP issue

Router --> AP as repeater (192.168.0.1) --> PC

PC --> Wireless adapter (192.168.0.xxx) --> internet
PC --> LAN adapter (192.168.0.xxx) --> intranet

If I want to share the wireless conection XP wants to assign 192.168.0.1 to my lan card automatically which isn't possible. Any solutions?

ICS defaults to using addresses in the 192.168.0.x range I'm afraid. It can be changed though - see How to Change the IP Range for the ICS DHCP Service for more details.

Either that, or change the network address you use on your router. Personally, I'd change the network address to 192.168.x, where x is between 10 and 255, as it helps to defeat some of the cross site request forgery attacks against routers.

Don't be so modest Chris... I think you've given us a splendid demonstration of MS superiority and foresight!

Not to worry the Internet is just a faze and will be gone in 6 months...":O}

You could also you the 10.x.x.x range on your router as this is also a private IP range so it would be obvious straight away which IP had been assigned from which DHCP server
