@Ron: Ah, now I see. It's a 2-slotter, and a really fat one, too. Mine are single-slot solutions. I prefer the single slot cards, I think as a rule they run a bit quieter, and they don't take as much real estate, for sure.

Dumb move for them to put the 6-pin on the end of that baby. Hope it's not in the way of your drive bays. Can you get another one in there with the gear you have?

I'm down for an indefinite period. Motherboard doesn't want to play any more.

Cpu temp is 45/46 and GPUs are 45/46. Full load on everything.

Sounds good, Sam. I think it will be an advantage when the new WUs start to come again.

I'd like to have a look at it when you get a chance to post a photo-just want to see what kind of space the cooling blocks take up. Was it difficult to disassemble the cards?

Not at all. 8 screws on the bottom and two on the back plate. A little twist to break loose the TIM and it was off. Getting the blocks to seat was a different thing all together. I assembled them about 6 times each to get a good contact point.

All is good now.

I will get up some pics on Sunday...Wait...it is Sunday...Later today then.

I was just thinking of that. I will post some in a bit. I am not as finished as I would like yet but the inside looks good enough for a lookie.

Here is a look at the inside. The bottom is plexi painted on the bottom. Very clean and reflective. The blocks light up with the LEDs on them.

Man, be careful. That hose on the bottom card on the left side has to make a big bend. Looks like too much of a bend for 1/2"-can you see how it's pinching off there? You might want to drill a hole a bit higher in the back of the box before the heat softens the hose enough to pinch it off completely...

some of the reviews I have read talk about them running a little hot. I was looking a getting the heat out of the box.

should have room on the sli board for 2. that's down the road a bit. I wanted to try the GPU client on a single core. now I have either a dead cpu or a bad psu. bad enough that I am loosing another motherboard.

YEa, I already realized that I have to do that. I will have to wait till I can mask everything off. I still have plenty of flow. The res is swirling like mad. It is tygon so it does pretty well. without the anti kink in place it does kink more.

Stays nice and cool though. And very quiet. Only thing I hear is the pump.

You know what might be good at that pinchpoint is a little bit of internal anti-kink spring, you know, the kind that coils up within the hose. Maybe about 2-3" or so. You'd never have to worry about the hose collapsing while you're asleep then, it's a surefire cure.

BTW, what didja pay for the blocks? I think the next upgrade for me is what you've done, but with a second water loop and pump. I've got the NB in the same loop as the CPU; I think that's enough heat load for one loop. I have an extra one lying around someplace.

Crazy cheap. Used for 50 each. It was part of my b-day money.

They still sell new for 140 each.

It is the EK FC8800 blocks.

I am going to move the hole. Well i guess I can't really move it. I will drill another one for the hose.

turned out to be a bum psu. mb died removed the dead board from the w/c box.
new stuff in and the 9600 is FOLDING. I did use the single core cpu in place of the dual core.

all I can say is the less expensive motherboards will not stand up to the rigors of Folding 24/7. they
don't like to be pushed and I push them anyway. I get what I pay for and sometimes I am pleased by
the performance and durability of some of the 'budget' boards. some good news about the PSU, it's
still under warranty. I also have the original box and invoice too.
the long term answer is to save up for a higher end mainboard. short term goal is another 9600GT.
