![]() @Ron: Ah, now I see. It's a 2-slotter, and a really fat one, too. Mine are single-slot solutions. I prefer the single slot cards, I think as a rule they run a bit quieter, and they don't take as much real estate, for sure. Dumb move for them to put the 6-pin on the end of that baby. Hope it's not in the way of your drive bays. Can you get another one in there with the gear you have?

I'd like to have a look at it when you get a chance to post a photo-just want to see what kind of space the cooling blocks take up. Was it difficult to disassemble the cards?

Not at all. 8 screws on the bottom and two on the back plate. A little twist to break loose the TIM and it was off. Getting the blocks to seat was a different thing all together. I assembled them about 6 times each to get a good contact point. All is good now. I will get up some pics on Sunday...Wait...it is Sunday...Later today then.

Man, be careful. That hose on the bottom card on the left side has to make a big bend. Looks like too much of a bend for 1/2"-can you see how it's pinching off there? You might want to drill a hole a bit higher in the back of the box before the heat softens the hose enough to pinch it off completely...

![]() should have room on the sli board for 2. that's down the road a bit. I wanted to try the GPU client on a single core. now I have either a dead cpu or a bad psu. bad enough that I am loosing another motherboard. Ron Last edited by dabaerman; 24th September, 2008 at 03:48 AM. |

Stays nice and cool though. And very quiet. Only thing I hear is the pump.

BTW, what didja pay for the blocks? I think the next upgrade for me is what you've done, but with a second water loop and pump. I've got the NB in the same loop as the CPU; I think that's enough heat load for one loop. I have an extra one lying around someplace.

all I can say is the less expensive motherboards will not stand up to the rigors of Folding 24/7. they don't like to be pushed and I push them anyway. I get what I pay for and sometimes I am pleased by the performance and durability of some of the 'budget' boards. some good news about the PSU, it's still under warranty. I also have the original box and invoice too. ![]() the long term answer is to save up for a higher end mainboard. short term goal is another 9600GT. ![]() Ron |
