Gonna get one of these next month after i've got my 7600GT. Get 'em while you can!

Just wondering, but is it really worth it? I mean how much more performance can you possibly squeeze from that CPU when compared to your OC'd 3200+? IMHO, I'd drop the $$ your going to spend on the CPU and combine that with the $$ your going to spend on the 7600----might be able to make it a 7900/1900 maybe, which would yeild a helluva lot better results.

Still, damn good find, I just wish it was in the U.S.

I have to agree. You might get another 100Mhz or so from but you'll see a far better result by doing as Seperah suggested.

You can get it shipped to the US, when you go to checkout, just select United states from the country dropdown list and leave the other box as it is.

£98.85 shipped to US (that price is GBP so it's probably about $190US) so it's cheaper than we get it because of VAT.

If my tax rebate doesn't arrive by next month (it should be here this week or next though) then i'll put the extra towards something better, not a 7900 though because of all the stories i've heard about them going bad. No, i think i'll try and find a 7800GT/GTX (i'll have about £230 by then), or get another gig of ram, or another HDD.

Yeah. 7800GT(X) are ridiculous in price over here right now. 7800GTX being nearly $350. The 7900GT is that much, but the X1900XT is right around in that area.

a couple of words: Shader model 3. The X1800 doesn't have SM3 (unless i'm very very wrong). And the X1900? That doesn't have it either does it? (or am i wrong? ).

The X800 series cards don't have SM3 i'm pretty sure X1800 cards do.

whoops! I just realised the price of them though, still over £200! i think i'll just stick with the 7600, and put the money after that towards some ram.

I got a 7900 GT. It cost me US $240 after a rebate, with free shipping. It was a PNY, and so far so good. From what I hear it's mostly XFX and eVGA that are having problems, but look around. I'm very happy with the 7900 though.

i wish that rebates weren't just a US thing. The only rebate i'm going to get is £60 from inland revenue which i had taken out of my wages from work. I'll also get £60 next april from them as well because i've been charged 3 months tax while they've been "processing" my application. I got my papers for it back today so cheque should be through in next few days!

But i do like PNY cards, i got a 6200 AGP, before i went to athlon 64, and although i wasn't too keen at first, i realised that there was more to it than i thought originally. But £240, that's like £120 uk money! That's what my 7600 is going to cost me! Another fine example of ripoff britain. I seriously want out of this crappy country. Perhaps when i'm 18, i'll go and live in the US or australia. Might have a better chance of finding a girlfriend there as well .

But, How much did it cost before the rebate?

Also, seperah, are you serious? I was warned not to get involved with X1600's because, put simply, they're crap.

7600 is MUCH better than the X1600, no doubts about that. But between an X1800 and 7800, I favour the X1800. The less powerful 256mb versions can be had for about £160, it's seriously something to concider.

Good luck affording that!
Also Australia has extremely tough Immigration rules.
And I don't see the problem with English girls!

Things are cheaper there, from our point of view, but IIRC I think our Average earning is higher. You can't have the best of both worlds I'm afraid.

Nothing wrong with english girls, met a lot of very nice ones myself. I know about the australian immigration rules. But my average earning in the US can't be much worse than it is where i am now.

Before rebate the 7900 was $280, I believe. So rebates don't get through to Britain? I feel for you, I've saved about $100 in the past 8 months on rebates. Also, for RAM there are some truly incredible rebates upwards of $60 for premium stuff. $210 RAM costing $150 after rebate.

Though it isn't all great. On occasion you don't get a rebate despite sending it in, or it takes upwards off 4-6 months for it to come through. You have to have all of the cash on hand and be patient.

yeah, we don't get rebates here, except the tax one i mentioned, but it's pretty bad when you don't get any money back. I think most of the money we lose is to tax. I'd be happier if prices were lower compared to other countries, but guess we just stand by with it, the british always have and until someone realises we're being ripped off by our own government, we always will.
