windows xp doesn't install

hay, i bought windows xp, but i need some help installing it.
it ran through the install program fine, and it also said that you would need aditional drivers for the voodoo5, which i have.
during the first repub(and everytime after that) it says to check your hard drive for viruses, errors, and other problems. now, the motherboard i have has two diffrent places you can connect your ide divices, but should that matter? could that be why it won't do anything, or is it becasue theirs something wrong with the hard drive? i read that it says you can install 3rd party mass storage drivers, but i don't have them on a disk(floppy).
the error massage was ox0000007b.
whats up with it, is it a system problem, or a hard drive issue?
my system is a s follows:
asus a7v133 nout the onboard audio
athlon 1 gig
256 mb pc133sdram
voodoo5 5500 agp
game theater xp
WESTERN DIGITAL WD400 (20 gig capacity, but more around 15 usable)
MAXTOR DIAMOND MAX (40gig capacity, but 37 usable)
AOpen dvd drive
HP cd writer 9700

does all this sound ok, what would be messing it up?

You haven't listed a 3rd party controller. You only need to install a driver for it if you are using an addon card. Which one are you using? Most are supported under XP, so again, you may not need to do anything for it to work.
