A Great Find

I was at a yard sale yesterday and found a CD disk that only had "Win 8 in 1" printed on it. I wasen't sure what it was and the woman having the yard sale didn't have a clue (said it had belonged to her late husband), she only wanted $1.00 for it so I now own it. When I got home and ran the disk I was surprised to find that "8 in 1" means Win95, Win98, Win98se, WinNT, Winme, Win2000, WinXP home, WinXP Pro and all the boot disks and numbers. 8 Full complete OS. :-D :-D

Thumbs up

Be careful with XP serial numbers, especially when / if "activating" or patching. FGCKW~ is a no-no.

What a bonanza! Is this a burned disk or a "hard copy" disk? If it's burned... We don't want to hear about it. Unless the guy was a MS employee. Nope, we still don't want to hear about it. :nervous:

Not burned it's purple with black writing and has the Microsoft holographic image around the center ring.

It must be a DVD disk.. each full install cd is loaded with compressed cabs so the data of 8 600mb is about 4.7gb.

I had NO idea that such a "Super MS OS" disk existed. I suppose you won't find one of these jewels at CompUSA?

I went back to where I got the disk and talked for a while with the lady. Her husband as she put it started working on computers when they took up whole buildings. She also told me that 2 days before I bought my disk she had a lot of computer "stuff" for sale but one of the first people that showed up bought all of it. Glad they didn't see my disk :-D . I've explored the disk and it looks like all the OS's are there w/boot disks. Thinking about installing XP Pro on a slaved drive or just making a small partition on my master. Any sugestions? I don't know much about XP but would like to learn.

I can't say this definitively- WinXP seems to be "NT for Dummies." It has a lot of nice features. Its driver collection is excellent. If it doesn't have the driver it will go online, DL the file from MS and install it. Bing.

The security policies need not be bothered with at all. Dunno if this means that you have no security by default!

The only bad thing is that it nags you to register/activate it. I don't know what happens if you don't do this within the 30 days that you're allowed. I've read that the OS becomes defunct.
