XP Pro problems and tweaking

so i've got win xp pro now. overall i really like it, but i have a question or two:

1. is there any way to stop crappy msn messenger loading every time i open outlook express? i'm an icq man, and closing messenger everytime i use my email is p!ssing me off!

2. i have a 98 machine networked to my xp machine. if i switch my second computer off, and boot my xp machine, then i get a wierd error message. what's up with that?

3. does ntfs give any real advantage over fat32? i converted my primary partition, but i'm reluctant to convert my second partition. it has A LOT that i don't want to lose.

4. anyone know of any vital xp tweaks that i shouldn't live without? i've got tweakui for xp, and have done the obvious tweaks. i'm not so fussed about windows opening 1s faster or anything. just major application-speed boosts.

To get rid of the msn messanger, follow this steps:
Open the file sysoc.inf in notepad. You find the file in your windows\inf - folder.
Search for the line: msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
Remove hide , so the line looks like: msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,7 and save the file.
After this change, Windows Messenger will appear in Add or Remove Programs, then Add/Remove Windows Components, and you can remove it for good.

btw, the wierd error message when the lan connection was down, has gone away.. who knows why, but it's gone. strike one more off the list.

I thought there was something fishy in beantown when this couldn't be removed from add/remove...
