The difference between a normal format and a quick format?

A normal format usually (but not always) goes through and ensures that the media is good. This usually involves writing data to each sector.

A quick format just rewrites a few data structures (like FAT, root directory, MFT table etc) on the disk. This makes it look empty, but doesn't actually delete any of the contents of the disk.

Thats fine and all, but with all these recent nForce driver issues, ive been reformatting quite a bit - should I worry about doing a full format, or just do the quick-format and save myself an hour?

I was hoping for that response. As long as I know the drives work, I dont think doing a complete format is really doing me any added good.

If you can get a second hard drive, you'll save MEGA amounts of time by Ghosting your Drive.

Well I have two 80G WDSE drives in RAID 0 right now. Couldnt I just make a ghost image of my C: partition and save it on my Data drive (or just make a new partition Z:Ghost)? Or does it actually have to be a physically seperate drive? By the way, once I have the ghost image on another drive, how do I perform a re-image onto my C: partition?
