What anti virus program are we talking about here kat?

I don't think the main rig will scan the files going to and from the other machines... but I could be wrong.

Perhaps I misunderstood your question... which is also very possible!

I meant "I don't think the main rig will scan the files going between the other computers and the internet".

Direct route? Then I'm almost certain that the main rig scans for NOTHING when you use the internet on the other two machines... but maybe it depends on how you have things set up.

But you'd better go install it on both machines... better safe than sorry, right?

no doubt about it

my main rig picked up a virus on Nov 17th and I didn't catch it until Dec 3rd because I was hunting..(JS exception.exploit) fortunately it was a low level virus and easy to get rid of

Eeeew, still, even it was a low level virus it always sucks to catch one.

I get about 2-3 e-mails A DAY containing the b@amm virus, but they are easy to recognize, so I don't download the attachments.

Thet all take up 40 kb, and the subject field is always "Re: ". The attached file has TWO extenstions, making it even easier to identify. But it still sucks though!

I mainly use net-email to prevent any files being sent directly to my computer.

Unless you have antivirus software specifically designed to scan all transmitted content, then you'll need AV software on each machine.

The files you transfer between the internet and one of the non-ICS machines does not touch the hard disk on the ICS machine. As it doesn't ever get written to disk, it never gets scanned by the AV software.

How do you delete an e-mail in outlook express without opening it?

Norton will intercept it for you. But you have to set this up in your Anti-V. options. Just open it and click on E-mail status. Then click on outlook Express, then say yes to the "Options Screen, then click the box(es) for protection. Be sure you do as the newer viruses no longer need you to open them to infect you.

I don't think there is a way to make Outlook not open a file, at lest I haven't found it":O{

The above Norton bit works ONLY if the file has a virus.

There have been a couple of viruses that can infect outlook even if the preview pane has been disabled. However, these are in the minority, and there have been hot fixes to patch Outlook against these problems.
