| install problem... I'm trying to install Red hat 6.2 on rig #4 (see sig) and I've run into a few problems so far. I'm pretty sure this is a hardware problems with the computer itself because I can't even get windows to install on it (think the Cd-ROM is bad or the driver is so old that its no longer supported by linux/windows...mitsumi 2x speed).
Anyway, I put in the boot floppy and reboot. It goes through a number of steps until it gets to this message on the screen:
"Kernel Panic: Kernel compiles for Pentium+, requires TSC"
"In Swapper Task - not syncing"
After that it thinks about it for a while and then gives these messages to the effect of "sending kill signal". The install pretty much stops from there. I was thinking originally that the board/chip (microcenter computer/board=???/chip=cyrix 166) may not be supported by linux, but I've been told by some people that it should be ok. Anyone have any ideas about this 1?
