Evolution Question

I recently picked up a copy of Mandrake 9.1 (thanks to suggestions I read on this board) I am quite happy with it. It was far easier to install and get certain issues worked out than RH9. I now have sound, and the latest video drivers.

My question is this, I am an outlook junky and it had a feature that is what kept me using it for sometime, it's group by field. According to the Evolution help files I can do that with it as well but when I right click on the columns group by field is not present.

How does one use group by field? This is the only complaint I have had, and it is more an annoyance than a complaint.

Are you using the stock version of Evolution that came with MDK9.1 or an updated version?

MDK9.1 comes with Evolution version 1.2.4, in which Group by Field as a column operation is still present. To use it, you must first add a field to sort by, with the "Add Columns" operation. It doesn't seem to be possible to group by pre-existing columns.

If you have upgraded (e.g. from Ximian Red Carpet) to Evolution 1.4.x then Group by Field no longer exists. Instead Ximian have worked on making the vFolders system in Evolution rather more powerful, so that it fulfils and replaces all functions provided by GbF, albeit in a slightly more time consuming manner

I have to admit I'm not entirely clear what advantages are served by Group by Field, mainly because I've always used vFolders...

I am using the stock version, I have never used vfolders. What's the advantage? For me it was always nice to just e-mails grouped by senders and subjects or dates.

Well I went in and tried to setup group by field but I still had no luck. It seems I am using Evolution 1.2.2

Daniel ~, I think we need to take out life insurance policies on Superman, Kaitain and Aedan. Big one's!

Don't be shy, Members. Send in those buckolas!!

EDIT. This is a wacky post, please don't take it all that seriously! All I'm trying to say is that Aedan, Superman and Kaitain are extremely valuable Members!
