Anti Virus on Pinky's box???!!!

I got me Norton 2002. Doesn't seem to be interfering with system performance...

I scanned my system last night, found one (probably trojan) virus which was not active and was quickly eliminated. That's it. Just one after never running anti virus software on this 3 month old setup. Just goes to show that good downloading and email policies work 99% of the time.

Now I play it safe as these virii are becoming trickier and harder to just 'keep out'. Superman's recent problem kinda convinced me .

I was online around two years before I got my first virus, now get 5-6 a week, times change....sigh

I only got one virus before I switched to PCs. Now I find myself spending hours of online time per month just to keep them out. Some people really need a better hobby

Yep, them Anti-Viruses are pretty useful. Norton saved me and phiber from a few trojans!

Have not tried NAV 2002, I use NAV Corp. Ed. 7.6. Now that is sweet.

What's really wierd is that I've run PCs for many years without coming across a virus or running AntiVirus Software. Why haven't I come across more viruses/trojans?

Ok, so I don't run Outlook, or any of the MS office products, but does this really make that much difference?

Evidently there is an economy of scale operating in the fiendish minds of virus writers, now that more people use other products they deem it worth their time to put together something just for folks like you. But MS is still the overwhelming target of choice. MS just makes it so easy to do!!

I got a really nasty virus once. I didn't realize I had it until the REGEDIT command completely disappeared.. I tried McAfee, Norton, everything.. It was damn good..
After I formatted my main HD, I started scanning disks using an online utility (www.pc-cillin.com) and it found the little SOB!! Boot sector virus… I only used pc-cillin because I was too lazy to install the other software, but it turned out to be just awesome, and most importantly FREE!!
