Then i went to mIRC but i'm still so confused about how to work the thing properly. I was just wondering if you guys have any sugestions because my 40 gig IPOD comes tomorow so i need to DL some songs to fill it.

If you are in fact planning on downloading songs from unknown, unsigned artists working towards the ideal of totally free, non-copyright music then a certain Paul Simon has put together a service that allows you to download copyleft music. Otherwise buy it through the likes of Napster or Musicmatch.com

The problem with P2P networks is that you need to know what you are searching for upfront! For unsigned bands their websites are generally easier to find.

Most P2P software is full of adware, etc.

Shareaza seems to be quite clean and hassle free - except you may have to join a very long queue to get what you want. The wait might be 5 mins or 5 days - after which the file may turn out to be corrupt or infected with a virus, etc.

I've had GREAT luck with bareshare, just run spybot-search and destroy after installation to get rid of some of the extracurricular programs

Really has worked well for me
