there is also this one if you run KDE and an application called superkaramba.

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=11990

Superkaramba allows you to run all kinds of apps (weather, system info, slashdot and news headlines...) I added the above aplet to one of the SK scripts that show cpu usage, network info, drive space... Oh and temps.. If I can figure out a way to do a screen snapshot I'll upload a a shot of it..

I think I have the picture.. The folding SK applet is in the lower left corner. If you click on the protien then it supposed to bring up your stats.. I did something wrong and I haven't had time to fix it.

BTW the two game icons (Civ3 & Civ3Conquest are windows games that run on linux using cedega/Winex4), Also notice the nice sine wave action in my CPU load. That is from running the folding client and fahlimit that I mentioned in the FAQ..

If you're using FC2, you need to make sure you have kdelibs-devel installed as well as using the --prefix /usr option when compiling. So I'm told anyway, I tried yumming this library but haven't satisfied dependencies yet.

..I'm getting better at finding this linux stuff out.....

edit: looks like my bastardised, mongrel yum.conf isn't connecting to the best servers. Just put a fresh one in from my other system.

Yeah, this is normal for just about every package-based distro. If you stick to binary rpms only for files, you can get away with installing none of the devel files, but if you ever need to compile anything, you're gonna need them.

Everybody should also check that they have kernel sources and kernel headers installed, too.

Now h\ving problems when installing kdelibs-devel. It comes up with "gcc34-java requires gcc34 = 3.4.01 not availible. Thinks it's cos of changing yum repositories. Adding in the "testing" server now. Tried --exclude gcc34-java but it didn't work; I don't think that's how I'm meant to use that command.

OK I got mine installed. Once I installed the kdelibs-devl, it didn't even need the -prefix option.

Note when setting up: I had the "/work" directory in the same directory as the executable. When it came to choosing the work directory, if I chose "work" it wouldn't find my current file and would attempt to download a new one. If I chose the parent directory that contained the "work" folder, it found the old WU and started on that at 29%.

I like the way that the icon goes from black&white through to colour as the unit progresses. I may try to find a smaller icon though.

SUSE installs the compatability libraries by default, but manages not to install a lot of very useful stuff by default. Like kernel sources, or a c compiler, or even "make".

Yeh, when I installed mandrake a while back, I had no gcc or anything. I had no idea how to install it.Ditched it for FC2+yum.
