Cool We love Firefox we do, lets optomize it lets do

I think I have sensed a following for this belter of a 'little'(?) browser.. to be frank I did not search for previous posts on this topic but I presume it will not have been considered publicly until now...

Can anyone tell me for certian whether compiling for a specific CPU would give noticeable performance/speed/responsiveness if I were to compile the source on my own machine (a la compiling Linux packages form sourc for your own OS)?

I have found one page of one person who claimed to compile with various 'levels' of compiler optimizations; however he ceased to post any newer development versions & so his last attempts are on the 0.8 (I think) releases.

Generally compiling for a specific CPU does tend to provide some more speed. How much, of course, depends on lots of other things. If you haven't recompiled all the support libraries and other dependences, then you'll be a bit limited on the speed increase. So, if you really want to do that, you'd be better off recompiling everything for your specific architecture.
