thankyou for clearing that up for me. I was helping someone out over msn to stop their comp rebooting everytime it had an error and thought I'd tell them to sort a few things out while they were there but they didn't have a remote tab which baffled me

I haven't used it, but I was under the impression that it was part of MS messenger.

it's definately in pro as default and I've always switched it off on mine and friends machines for security but I'm confused as to whether it is in home or not and if it is why it wasn't in my friends

I'm pretty sure you can with XP Home. Maybe you're thinking of remote desktop which is XP Pro only.
