FreeBSD, anyone?

Howdy virtual friends and neighbors. While I've used Linux for years(yet I'm far from an ace with it) FreeBSD is the OS that intrigued me, and really the reason why I tried Linux.

On-line support for FreeBSD was nonexistent then, and I'd guess that it's still not available. Proponents of the OS actually have the crust to ask why Linux is more popular than FreeBSD. It's the support, stupid. Shuh.

Should I try it? Or become one with The Bill?

Never! Mongo simply don't like BBBBB.

FreeBSD tends to be a lot more stable than Linux, and generally much more suitable for heavy duty serving. People like Yahoo, Simtel and Sony use FreeBSD. There's less choice in terms of hardware support, but what there is is generally tried and trusted.

Thanks, AidanII! I'll pick up FreeBSD 4.4 when I have the cash.

Unix is unix, theres no reason why you wouldn't be able to use bsd if you can use linux, unless you only know how to do things with a certain distro and have never really gotten to know the command line very well.
But you can still learn, pick up a book with a cover cd if you want to make it easier to learn.
