Internet Connection Sharing with SuSE 9.2

Hi all,

I have decided to change my gateway machine to Linux, SuSE 9.2, and I am having problems setting up the connection sharing.

I have allowed the firewall to allow IP Masquerading and to forward IP's.

All the other machines are using XP pro with SP1, and I have setup the gateway address, configured the IP's (192.168.0.1 - 5) but I know I am missing something.

This is the first time I have setup a Linux box, so I dont really know what I am doing, so any help would be great.

Cheers

Insom

What was your problem? Generally once you've set NAT/filtering up and enabled forwarding it normally works.

SuSE 9.2 does most of it automatically, I had enabled IP forwarding in Security and IP masquerading in the firewall, but the default setting the ADSL is DSL0, but for some reason, the setup software I used for the modem uses PPP0, and that option was not available in the firewall, unless you typed it in.

But anyway, all works now, apart from the sodding Win32/Parite virus I got on my XP machines now, hope it aint related, cos it is viscious...

It's not a nice virus - it tries to infect all the .EXE files it can find, including across network shares.
