| Don't really believe you can do that...even if you switch users, Firefox makes separate profiles(with cache, settings, plugins etc.) for every system user.. I tried to copy the files from one profile to another or tried to use the same profile for different users...but I didn't manage to resume the download. I managed only to show it in the list but the only thing I could do was restart the download...but I guess this is not something you want. Sorry if this doesn't help. |

| this morning i took the risk. as i was downloading, i switched users on xp pro. logged on as the second user and surfed the web. then went back to the original two hours later and the download was done. while i was logged in as the second user, i looked up the processes running in the task manager and saw that my first profile was still running firefox and under networking, i was using up bandwidth even though my current profile was not surfing the web. so apparently switching profiles does not stop downloads...provided that fast user switching (i had the welcome screen turned on) turned on.

| lol..I thought you want to logoff the first user and login with the second. Yes, you're right...switching usersdoesn't close any processes from the first one. Glad you found your answer. |

| it 's for that reason that switch user was put there ... (that feature existed already outside of Windows / I saw it used on a Corporate NT4 network for the support guys to be able to do things on their user's machines without having them to have them logoff ... / the command was SU, for switch user ...)
