Problems with NETGEAR usb adapter and WIN XP networking.. can anyone help?

Heres my problem.. i have a netgear router and a netgear wireless router G band

ive gotten networking up and running thats easy.. but when i installed the device on my computer in my studio.. i used netgears own utility to use it.. and netgear has its own icon. notice on my screen captures...

it gave me an option to let netgear manage my wireless internet when i originally installed it, but the problem is I cant access it under the start menu under "Connect to" and it does not show up under my network connections at all.

As you can see it works and im using it for internet and networking, but i want to use windows built in wireless network setup wizards i tried ncpa.cpl but as the screenshot shows, its not there.. only my onboard network adapter shows up. Also my 1394 adapter FIREWIRE used to show up under network connections as well and does not anymore.

I tried uninstalling the devices completely and removing the netgear software, when i reinstall the usb adapter, it installs fine and appears under "manage" as a network adapter but it wont show up in NETWORK CONNECTIONS, so i cant manage wireless settings without installing the NETGEAR program

I have windows media center 2004 XP edition with service pack 2. I dont want to do a clean format, but i would like to have all of my windows networking available through windows, because i want to create additional networks for when friends come over. Anyone know how to revert it?

I googled everything and they all say of course that when you install the usb card the system tray will have the wireless icon, well mine doesen't. normally all i do is click on it and i am in the network setup connections..

any ideas?

Try unplugging and reinserting the USB stick. Sometimes Windows is a little slow where USB is concerned. It takes about 15 go's to get my webcam to be recognised by the computer running Windows. Linux sucks for webcams though, so...

moving swiftly along, also grab the latest version of the driver and software from the website. Also try to get a screenshot of the Device Manager properties for your USB/lan card.
